Historic Techno Night in Bečići: Charlotte de Witte and Enrico Sangiuliano on the same Festival Lineup Following Their Split

With social media and news outlets around the world abuzz over the end of their six-year love story, Charlotte de Witte and Enrico Sangiuliano will once again appear on the same festival bill on 28 August. The two techno heavyweights will perform on the same night at Sea Dance Edition in Bečići, one of only two forthcoming events listed on both artists’ calendars before the end of the year, giving new resonance to their words, ‘always united by the music’.

One of the best-known love stories in contemporary electronic music has come to an end after six years, but the announcement that the couple were going their separate ways left the story’s most important chapter open: music. In their own words, ‘Our love has now taken a different form, rooted in deep gratitude, support, understanding and always united by the music.’

Music will bring them to the same shore on 28 August. Charlotte de Witte and Enrico Sangiuliano will perform on the opening night of EXIT to Montenegro – Sea Dance Edition on Bečići Beach, sharing the bill with HUGEL and RPR Soundsystem.

Rather than revealing the reasons behind the split, the two artists emphasised respect, closeness and their wish to remain part of one another’s lives. Their appearance in Budva should therefore not be framed as a farewell performance, but as one of the first major festival moments in a new chapter of their lives and careers.

Their current tour schedules add further significance to the occasion in Bečići. Following their recent performances at Love Family Park in Frankfurt, Sea Dance in Budva and Starlight Festival at the Great Pyramids of Giza are the only two forthcoming events currently listed on both artists’ calendars.

For years, their personal story was inseparable from music. They announced their engagement in 2021, shortly before releasing their joint remix of the trance classic “The Age of Love”, and married the following year. In 2023, they continued their creative partnership with “Reflection”, a three-track EP released on Enrico’s NINETOZERO label.

They now come to Sea Dance Edition as two distinctive, fully established artists who have long been pushing the boundaries of electronic music in their own right.

Charlotte de Witte brings the hypnotic, raw and uncompromising techno sound to Bečići, that has taken her to the world’s biggest stages. Enrico Sangiuliano, meanwhile, is renowned for meticulously crafted sets, monumental productions and an ability to turn the dancefloor into a powerful, almost physical experience.

Their performances form part of the opening night of Sea Dance Edition, which will return to Bečići from 28 to 31 August, once again placing the resort at the heart of the European and global festival circuit. Following Charlotte de Witte, Enrico Sangiuliano, HUGEL and RPR Soundsystem on the opening night, the programme on the following days will be headlined by John Newman, presenting his exclusive new live show, and global electronic music star Peggy Gou.

Charlotte de Witte and Enrico Sangiuliano’s scheduled performances in Bečići now resonate differently than when they were first announced. Sea Dance will not be a farewell, but a moment in which their story takes on a different form and continues through the music that first brought them together.
