OPINION: We swapped the usual festival break for Montenegro’s Sea Dance to explore Budva by day and go raving by night, so here’s exactly why every dance music fan should visit
EXIT’s Sea Dance took place on the Montenegro shoreline
Montenegro has been firmly on our travel hit list for years, so when the opportunity came to explore a new country along with three nights of unmissable dance music it was no-brainer.
EXIT’s Sea Dance is situated in Budva and the line-up was absolutely stacked this year, with sets from Boris Brejcha, Charlotte De Witte and John Newman just to name a few. And bonus, the entry was free!
Our advice to any dance music fan is simple: stop thinking of festivals as something you fly abroad for and then fly straight home from. Make them the reason you discover somewhere new, and Montenegro is a pretty spectacular place to start.
Budva has that brilliant split personality everyone wants from a summer trip. During the day it was relaxed and relatively sleepy, as the Adriatic provides the perfect excuse to do very little, although that wasn’t our choice. We chose to explore the turquoise waters on boat tours and wandered around Budva’s historic Old Town’s ancient walls.
However, at night it was a completely different story. Sea Dance took over Bečići Beach from August 28 to 30 as international stars like HUGEL and Enrico Sangiuliano lit up the gorgeous blue coastline.
